This Privacy Statement clarifies the nature, scope, and purpose of processing personal data within the HintView application (see HINT: The Viewer)

The following presents information as related specifically to the HintView application for viewing HINT files.

Types of Data processed

The HintView application will open and display documents that conform to the HINT file format, as described in HINT: The File Format. Between activations, the application may store on your device the current file uri, the position inside the file, the current zoom factor, and the current selection of dark mode or light mode; further it may store on your device user preferences (for example the gamma value for the display, the auto reload mode, or the start on home page flag). This information is used to restore the viewer's state upon reactivation.

The HintView application will not collect, store, or transmit usage information or other logging information.

The HintView application will not require or ask you for authentication or login credentials. Neither it will require or ask you for access to potentially sensitive files or input devices as for example you calendar, your contacts, your accounts, your photo, video,or audio files, your camera, your microphone, your network, your location, or your phone.

The HintView application does not contain any advertising, banners, interstitials, product placements, games, or in-app purchases.

The HintView application will not collect, process, store, or transmit any personal data.

Terms used

"Personal data" is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (' the person concerned '); Identifiable is a natural person who is directly or indirectly, in particular by assigning it to an identifier such as a name, to a identification number, to location data, to an online identifier (e.g. Cookie) or can be identified as one or more special characteristics that are an expression of the physical, physiological, genetic, psychological, economic, cultural or social identity of this natural person.

Legal compliance

The HintView application, including any APIs or SDKs used by it, is compliant with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA), E.U. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and any other applicable laws or regulations.
